Challenges

I quickly realized there were very few piano models or piano parts available to download, so all objects were modeled by me.

I found inspiration in a tutorial by Jonathan Lindgren on Instagram. Unfortunately, the process he used in Cinema 4D was not directly transferable to Blender, so I had to rethink the scene and simplify the chopped wood effect. I used a subdivided cube as a boolean object, while the wood base was created in Autodesk Fusion to achieve clean beveled edges as the wood was “cut away.”

This process helped me better understand Blender’s workflow and limitations, particularly the strengths and challenges of using boolean modifiers.

Learning key-points

This project became a very valuable learning experience, both technically and creatively. It was highly stressful, with many competing ideas and directions as I tried to shape my vision. I explored various concepts, environments, and components throughout the process. Working through this level of uncertainty and pressure became the key lesson: to push through stress and ambiguity, and continue developing and refining the project even when the direction felt unclear.
