I faced some issues when creating the lamp shade. Firstly I was stuck trying to extrude a cylinder. This method limited the ability to change the shapes and lines withing the lamp shade. The second issue was that subdivison was slowing down the computer massively on a shape that intricite.
The sollution to both problems was to use an array modifier.
Learning key-points
After our presentation with our photography teacher, Nadim, I gained a better understanding of how much information lighting communicates in an image. When the lighting feels incorrect, a trained eye can notice it very quickly.
The main feedback I received from Nadim was that the squares with the pastries did not feel like they were photographed together in the same image, but rather composited separately in post-production. In reality, the setup was arranged together during the shoot. He also encouraged me to leave more room for shadows and avoid highlighting each pastry individually, which would help create a more natural and cohesive composition.
